NEWPORT – Vernon A. Saucier Sr., 65, died Aug. 24, 2010, at home after an extended illness. He was born April 29, 1945. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Martha, are his six children and their spouses; many nieces, nephews and grandchildren, and many more family members. Vernon was loved and respected by many. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Howland Baptist Church, Penobscot Valley Avenue, presided by his nephew, Jared. As was requested by Vernon in life, a celebration will be available after the memorial, and a burial 1 p.m. at Howland Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Vernon can join us for the potluck celebration. In lieu of flowers, any donations in Vernon’s memory may be made directly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
