MANAHAWKEN, N.J. – Joseph “Joe” W. Raymond, 67, was brought up to the angels Aug. 22, 2010, from his home after heart failure. Joe was born March 20, 1943, in Vincennes, Ind., to his loving parents Wilford and Nora Raymond. Joe was a graduate of the University of Maine and the War College of Washington, D.C. He retired after 22 years from the U.S. Air Force as a decorated colonel after receiving many medals. He moved on to become a private pilot for City Group, where he spent the last years of his working career. Joe was such a gift in all of our lives. He enjoyed telling jokes and singing karaoke, but now it is our turn to sing for him. “And I’ll hang around as long as you will let me. And I never minded standing in the rain. But you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’. I will always remember your name.” You will be dearly missed. Surviving are his beloved wife, Maria; sisters, JoAnn and Don Dyer of Salem, N.H., Priscilla and Al Soucie of Bangor and Gloria Raymond and John Ehrlich of Boxborough, Mass.; and children, Courtney and Doug Adams, and Meghan and Joshua Longacre of New Hampshire. Joe was known as Papa Joe to grandchildren, Griffin and Chase Adams, and Ella and Sophie Longacre of New Hampshire. He was uncle to Chris, Andy, Dom, Matt and Adrienne. Joe is survived also by aunts and uncles in Maine and Alabama; and more than 50 cousins. He had a very special relationship with his wonderful Aunt Cecile and his cousin, Sylvio. Joe also was stepfather to Mathew, Aryanne and Eva Perlman. The funeral was held Friday, Aug. 28, in Manahawken, N.J. If you wish to remember Joe with a donation that would please him, please send it to Camp CaPella, P.O. Box 552, 8 Pearl Point Road, Holden, ME 04429.
