HAMPDEN – William E. and Marjorie A. Briggs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 25, 2010, with a surprise party hosted by their children at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Belfast, which is the same location as their original reception. The event was attended by many family and friends, some of whom attended the original reception. The couple were married on July 31, 1960, in Belfast. William was in the Maine Air National Guard for 43 years, worked at Snowman Printing for 10 years and was also an electrician. Marjorie has been a loving mom to her four children, as well as providing day care to many area children and held part-time positions in various retail jobs. The couple enjoys traveling, have been on multiple cruises and celebrated their 50th anniversary with a cruise to Alaska. They also enjoy spending time at their cottage in Searsport. William and Marjorie have four children, Rick and Janet Briggs of Hampden, Mark Briggs of Trenton, Chip and Teri Briggs of Hampden and Holly and James Colson of Champaign, Ill.; and grandchildren, Shaun Briggs, Ashley Briggs, Jacob Briggs, Paige Rainford, Jorgia Rainford, Emily Briggs, Camden Colson and Maya Colson.
