SWAN’S ISLAND – Paul Austin Stockbridge Jr., 65, died peacefully Aug. 28, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 23, 1945, in Castine, son of Mary (Colbeth) Johnson and the late Paul Austin Stockbridge Sr. Paul graduated from Millington Central High School in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, with a tour of duty in Vietnam, and upon return, was a fisherman. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Franklin Johnson; and stepdaughter, Darlene Tozier. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Dorothy (Lemoine) Stockbridge; his mom, Mary (Colbeth) Johnson; and his daughter, Nicole (Stockbridge) Butterfield and her four children, Bryan, Madisyn, Bradyn and Bryce – Big Aar’s “Princess and three Pirates.” He is also survived by stepchildren, Linda, Nancy, Bruce, Judy, Wanda and Brian, and their children and grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by four sisters, Sandra, Lorene, Prudy and Tammy; two brothers, Franklin Jr. and Dale; many nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Tommy and Rose. The family thanks the staff of Eastern Maine Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Swan’s Island Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Dutille officiating. After the memorial, Paul’s ashes will be scattered in Burnt Coat Harbor, Minturn Village. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Paul’s memory to Bar Harbor Banking & Trust for Swan’s Island Elementary School athletic department.
