MADAWASKA – Lucienne J. Tardif, 88, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born Sept. 10, 1921, in St. Agatha, daughter of Vital and Sophia (Ayotte) Lachance. Lucienne worked for many years as a registered nurse in the obstetrics department for Hotel Dieu Hospital, Edmundston, New Brunswick. She was a nurse and social worker for Maine Department of Mental Health, helping families adjust to children with disabilities. She loved to travel, Hawaii being her favorite place to visit. She and her husband, John, enjoyed going to their winter home in Florida. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic minister. She is survived by three daughters, Paula Sorensen and her husband, David, of Madawaska, Renee Drake and her husband, James, of Jenks, Okla., and Patrice Tardif of Montreal; four sons, John Tardif Jr. and his wife, Angie, of Winterhaven, Fla., Donald Tardif and his wife, Rhonda, of South Hampton, New Brunswick, Ronald Tardif of Madawaska and Michael Tardif and his wife, Sandy, also of Madawaska; 10 grandchildren, Craig, Mikka, Dodie, Cassie, Genevieve, Brandon, Caleb, George, Roma and Amanda; 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband, John Tardif, Aug. 29, 2008; and by seven sisters and seven brothers. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
