MILBRIDGE – Ronald Earl Grover Sr. passed away Sept. 2, 2010, with his family by his side after a long illness. He was born June 19, 1926, in Bigelow, to John and Rhoda Murray Grover. He was a man who enjoyed joking with others around him. He enjoyed many activities. He loved to fish, woodcarving and playing his guitar while tapping his feet to the tune he chose to play. His most favorite was spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories and watching the Boston Red Sox. He coached Little League baseball for 16 years. He served his country for 24 years, retiring from the U.S. Air Force at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. He returned to his hometown of Harrington with his wife and children in 1969. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Betty Greenwood Grover of Milbridge; a son, Ronald E. Grover Jr. and wife, Renita, of Milbridge, Richard Grover and significant other, Julie Cota, of Brewer and James Grover of Milbridge; four daughters, Cynthia Colson and husband, Dennis Sr., of Harrington, Pamela Proctor of Bangor, Sharon Moody and husband, Rodney, of Cherryfield and Cheryl Haynes and husband, Nathan, of Pittsfield; a brother, Bill; sisters, Lois and Betty; 14 grandchildren, Maria, Denny, Ryan, Clint, Brent, Julie, Jessie, Joshua, Melanie, Wanda, Jennifer, James, Tabatha and Tiffany; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ronald was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Ted and Lawrence; and grandchild, Mary Angela Colson. The family thanks a special friend, Bill Therrien of Milbridge for the many times he has done a task, run an errand or just stopped to visit and talk. A graveside service for family and friends will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington, with a gathering afterward at Cindy Colson’s home.
