CROUSEVILLE and NORRIDGEWOCK – Lewis R. “Lew” Hartsgrove Sr., 78, died Sept. 9, 2010, at his Norridgewock residence. He was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Woodland, son of the late Fred and Nettie (Green) Hartsgrove. Mr. Hartsgrove was employed by several area potato growers for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and camp with his family and friends. In later years, he became an avid reader, reading many novels, books and stories. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Tammy Hartsgrove Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patti and Rick Nilsson of Corinth and Jennie Hartsgrove of Norridgewock; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ina Hartsgrove of Corinna; one sister, Regina Hartsgrove of Norridgewock; a daughter-in-law, Regina Hartsgrove of Crouseville; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hartsgrove was predeceased by his wife, Alice (Langley) Hartsgrove, in 1995; and a son, Theran, in 2008. Friends may call noon until the time of service 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with Pastor Matt Palmer officiating.
