ELLSWORTH – Mary P. Guptill passed away peacefully Sept. 11, 2010, at an Ellsworth hospital after years of battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Ellsworth. She is survived by children, Sandra Guptill of Winter Harbor, David Guptill of Ellsworth and Gail Johnston and husband, Tom, of Hancock; daughter-in-law, Jane Guptill of Ellsworth; grandsons, Todd Johnston and partner, Ana, of Hancock, Kevin Guptill and Steven Guptill, both of Ellsworth; brothers, Maurice Patten and wife, Margaret, and Jim Patten and wife, Cookie, both of Ellsworth; one great-grandson; many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by special friend, Susan Summers of Winter Harbor; her many friends at Union Congregational Church, Ellsworth Falls; and her Meadow View Apartment friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Linwood; brother, Raymond Patten; and son, Bruce Guptill. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Union Congregational Church, Ellsworth Falls. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
