BEALS – Erma G. Burke, 89, wife of the late Sanford E. Burke, was called home to be with God Sept. 14, 2010, at Sunrise Care Facility, Jonesport. She was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Beals, daughter of Lewis and Hattie (Faulkingham) Woodward. She graduated from Beals High School in 1938 and married Sanford, June 16, 1941. Erma was a life member of Beals Advent Christian Church, where she held such rolls as pianist, church clerk, deaconess and Sunday school teacher. Erma was a loving grandmother, a great cook and loved sewing, flying, traveling, and reading. She is survived by one son, Carl of Beals; two sisters, Marcia Mills of Westerly, R.I., and Ina Alley and her husband, Richard, of Beals; a granddaughter, Magan Burke of Rossville, Tenn.; three sisters-in-law, Obeline Crowley of Beals, Iona Woodward of Jonesport and Edith Woodward of Beals; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Althea Alley; and two brothers, Neal Woodward and Lloyd Woodward Sr. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Advent Christian Church, Beals, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, with her nephew, Pastor George L.
