ALEXANDER and CARMEL – Henry C. Dinkins, 79, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 14, 2010, in Carmel. He was born July 29, 1931, in Richmond, Va., son of Henry C. Dinkins and Beulah (Durrett) Johnson. Henry served his country in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years as an air traffic controller in NORAD and senior weapons director technician, and was stationed in Okinawa, Korea, Morocco, Alaska and several other states. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Bangor, after 17 years. Henry was a member of Church of the Open Bible, Alexander, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Hampden. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and coaching Little League, and was involved with Cub Scouts. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Henry was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maxine (Flood) Dinkins, Sept. 2, 2010; three sons, Terry Dinkins and Ronald Dinkins of Carmel, and Garry Dinkins and his fiancee, Lorraine Goodwin, of Bangor; two grandchildren, Amanda Danico and her husband, Travis, of Hancock, and Ryan Clark and his wife, Tonya, of San Angelo, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kayci, Michael and Matthew; a sister, Francis Morgan of Richmond, Va.; many nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Dr. Chris Morse of Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Adam Lauer, Dr. Sandeep Singh and New Hope Hospice for their care of Henry. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Hermon Baptist Church, Hermon, where a service will begin 11 a.m. with the Rev. Garrett Chute and the Rev. Chip Howell officiating. Interment will be at Alexander Cemetery, Alexander. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Church of the Open Bible, Alexander.
