MOUNT CHASE – Laura Adelia (Carver) Mitchell, 85, a lifetime resident of Mount Chase, passed into her loving, heavenly Father’s arms Sept. 15, 2010. She was born Aug. 13, 1925, in Mount Chase, daughter of Orlando M. and Bertha E. (Howes) Carver. She married Ernest D. Mitchell, Sept. 16, 1944. She was a lifetime member of Patten Pentecostal Church, Patten, where she taught Sunday school for 10 years. She will be remembered for her pickles, hand-knit socks and mittens, and crocheted items at “her” craft fairs. In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by three children, Ruth and her husband, Richard Purvis, of Bangor, Merle and his wife, Kathie Mitchell, of Old Orchard Beach, and Stephanie York and her friend, Brad Pusey, of Glenburn; four grandchildren, Rhonda Fridley, Randy Purvis, Neal Mitchell and Mark York; two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Lance Fridley; one brother, Adrian Carver; and one sister, Dorothy Myshrall, both of Houlton; many nieces and nephews. Laura leaves behind many craft friends and also one very special friend, Linda Berry of Smyrna. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Patten Pentecostal Church where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. Frank Randall officiating. Interment will be at Patten Cemetery.
