MACHIASPORT – Mattie F. Ingalls, 99, died Sept. 20, 2010, in Machias. She was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Machiasport, daughter of the late Milford and Addie (Johnson) Colbeth. Mattie attended local schools and married Howard W. Ingalls, March 18, 1929. He died in May 1992. Mattie worked in the sardine industry when young, but spent most of her life raising her family. She loved her grandchildren and was a wonderful cook. She was a past member of the grange and a longtime member of Bucks Harbor Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Emery and his wife, Jane, of Portland, and Howard “Toy” L. Ingalls and wife, Mona, of Riverside, Calif.; a brother, Merrill and his wife, Carmen, of Bucks Harbor; a sister, Ida Huntley of Machias; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several special nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Hillside Cemetery, Bucks Harbor/Machiasport, with the Rev. Paul Dodge officiating. Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias, is handling the arrangements.
