PLYMOUTH – Bethie “Sam” Hyson, 46, beloved wife and mother, died unexpectedly Sept. 21, 2010, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1963, in Waterville, a daughter of Byron and Beverly (McBreairty) Cochran. She graduated from Nokomis Regional High School, Class of 1982, and received an associate degree from Kennebec Valley Community College, Waterville. She had been employed at Guilford Industries, Newport; Eastern Fine Paper, Brewer; and most recently was working as a personal care assistant at Skills, Inc., Hartland. Sam enjoyed ice fishing and will be remembered for her flower gardens and her love for her cats. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Brady; her husband, Dan Hyson Sr.; two sons, Dan Hyson Jr. and Brandon Hyson, all of Plymouth; a daughter, Becky and husband, Ben Proctor, of South Carolina; two brothers, Bryan and wife, Donna Cochran, of Corinna and Brent Cochran of Newport; three sisters, Bonnie and husband, David Godfrey, and Brenna Cochran, all of Plymouth and Betsy Bowers of Waterville; two granddaughters, Cassie and Elizabeth; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Alice Lavoie of Carmel; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and her best friends, Gate Blair and Lisa Bellefleur. She was predeceased by her father; stepfather, Jim Brady; brother, Bruce Cochran; sister, Becky Cochran; and nephew, Brent Cochran Jr. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with the Rev. Tammy Noyes officiating.
