WATERVILLE and BANGOR – Eldon F. Risser, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born May 9, 1923, in Livermore Falls, the son of William A. and Mable (Meisner) Risser. Eldon grew up in Boothbay Harbor and Augusta. He was a graduate of Cony High School, Augusta; and Colby College, Waterville. He spent and enjoyed his entire career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Eldon had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and being on the ocean. He was a member of Bethlehem Lodge No. 35 AF & AM, Augusta; and Kora Temple, Lewiston. Eldon is survived by his children, Dr. William Risser and his wife, Sharon, of Brewer and Judy LaForest and her husband, Gary, of Goffstown, N.H.; grandchildren, John Silvia of Boston, Gregory LaForest of Pennsylvania, Amy LaForest of Goffstown, N.H., Sarah Risser of Bangor and Nicholas Risser of Brewer; brother-in-law, John Kirschner of Lincolnville; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Rackliff) Risser; brother, Laurie Risser; and sister, Althea “Betty” Kirschner. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Winthrop Street, Augusta. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
