ORANGE, Mass. – Mildred (Page) Edminster, 86, of 383 East River St., King James Court, died early Monday morning, Sept. 20, 2010, at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, Mass., after an illness. Born April 27, 1924, in Brewer, she was the daughter of Robert L. and Lula (Wasson) Page. Mildred grew up in Maine, graduating from Bangor High School in 1942 and later graduated from the University of Maine, where she belonged to the Phi Mu sorority, in 1946. Mildred was married to Noah I. Edminster for 60 years at the time of his death, June 7, 2006. She was a teacher for many years at Howland High School and at Butterfield School, Orange, Mass., for a number of years before retiring in 1984. Mildred was a master gardener and enjoyed singing in the church choir, cooking, quilting, traveling and all family events. She belonged to a number of groups, including Friends of the Orange Libraries, Atheneum, Red Hat Society, YMCA Silver Sneakers and New Salem Council on Aging Luncheon. Mildred also belonged to Bangor Herb Society, Bangor Garden Club and Bear Paws Quilting Club. Survivors include her daughters, Joan Schmickrath of Newburyport, Mass., Jean Mauck of Topsham, Jennifer Edminster of Orange, Mass., and Janine LaPointe of Winchendon, Mass.; grandchildren, Julie Hooten, Jill Hamm, Jeffrey Eskow, John Aslanian III, Joyce Aslanian, Justin Eskow and Amanda Schmickrath; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband, Noah, Mildred was predeceased by a daughter, Juliet; and a granddaughter, Samantha Eskow. Calling hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, Mass., where words of remembrance will be offered 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Private interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bangor.
