BANGOR – Susan Brown (Humphrey) Paine, 76, died Sept. 27, 2010, at a local health care facility after a long illness. She was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Bangor, daughter of Hilton and Helen (Jackson) Humphrey. Sue was a graduate of Bangor schools and the University of Maine, Orono, Class of 1955, with a degree in home economics. For 20 years, she was employed by W.C. Bryant’s Jewelers. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and Bangor Chapter A, P.E.O. Sue was very committed to her faith and enjoyed her loving church family. She was married for 47 years to the late, Albert S. Paine. She is survived by four children, Catherine P. Walters and her husband, Terry, of Hollis, Charles H. Paine and his wife, Diane, of Hermon, John A. Paine and his wife, Ann, of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Susan P. Thibodeau and her husband, Bruce, of Winn; and four grandchildren, Jessica Paine of Brookfield, Conn., Nathan Akerley of San Diego, Matthew Paine of Portland and Rebecca Wright of Newton, Mass. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. There will be a private burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service Friday at Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
