HOULTON – John Wesley McGuire, 76, died Sept. 26, 2010, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Houlton, the son of Harry and Birdie (White) McGuire. John served in the U.S Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post No. 47 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7997. He was employed by Sargent’s Trucking for many years as a driver. John is survived by two daughters, Angela L. Ayres and her husband, Lawrence, and Leisa A. Dunlop and her husband, Herbie, all of Center Conway, N.H.; one living brother, Richard McGuire and his wife, Diane, of Stoneham, Mass.; four grandchildren, Crystal Heath, John and Jason Anderson and Jess Dunlop; eight great-grandchildren; two adopted daughters, Polly Botting and Helen Hanlon; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys McGuire, in 2008; and his son, John W. McGuire Jr. Graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Evergreen Cemetery with Chaplin Peter Roach officiating. A celebration of John’s life will be held after the service at American Legion Post No. 47.
