CUMBERLAND and CARMEL – Dewey “Dan” Emery, 52, died unexpectedly Sept. 20, 2010, at Maine Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1958, in Bangor, son of James Olin Emery and Joan Marie (Brown) Emery. Dan grew up in Carmel, graduated from Hermon High School in 1977, and attended Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He was self-employed as a commercial photographer, operating New England Media, Cumberland. He was a former member of Maine Professional Photographers Association. Dan enjoyed fishing, gardening, roller skating, and flying, studying for his pilot’s license. But he will most be remembered for his gift of music. He was especially accomplished with his guitar and banjo. Dan is survived by his wife of 13 years, Kyra Lynne Emery of Cumberland; his son, Tyler Emery and his wife, Chelsea, of Bangor; his mother, Joan Emery of Hermon; and his sister, Karla Ramsay and her husband, David, of Hermon. Dan was predeceased by his father, James Emery. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at Highland Cemetery, Carmel, with a gathering after at his mother’s home, 7 Caleb Court, Hermon.
