LEVANT – Herman E. Roebuck, 89, husband of Loretta May (Vreeland) Roebuck, died Oct. 3, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Robersonville, N.C., the son of Herman and Bertha (Barnhill) Roebuck. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for many years. He loved gardening and was a member of the Audubon Society and had also served as a volunteer firefighter in Victory Garden, N.J., before moving to Maine. Surviving in addition to his wife of Levant, are five children, Bonitta Pentaude and her husband, Frank, of Wilmington, N.C., Herman Anthony Roebuck and his wife, Shirley, of Yorktown, Ind., Deborah Selhorst of Honesdale, Pa., David Allen Roebuck and his wife, Margie, of Wilmington, N.C., and Claudia Callahan and her husband, Dennis, of Sinking Springs, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Dwight Stalls and his wife, Doris, and William Stalls and his wife, Sara, all of Virginia; three stepchildren, Robert Burd and his wife, Luda, of Florida, Floyd Burd and his wife, Bonnie, of Pennsylvania and Patricia McCullough and her husband, Joe, of Corinth; eight stepgrandchildren and several great-stepgrandchildren. Friends may call noon until the time of service 1 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, with the Rev. Herman Franklin officiating.
