MILLINOCKET – Philip J. Raymond, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at a Lincoln health care facility. He was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Millinocket, the son of Pierre and Regina (Plourde) Raymond. Philip grew up in Millinocket and was educated in Millinocket schools. He served in the National Guard for 18 years and worked for Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, as a heavy equipment operator for 46 years before retiring in January 1991. He was a faithful communicant and Eucharistic minister of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket. Philip was an avid reader. He also loved working with wood and did many carpentry jobs for people throughout the years. Philip is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Dorothy G. (Santerre) Raymond of Millinocket; two children, Paula Hughes and her husband, Gerry, of Blauvelt, N.Y., and Philip J. Raymond Jr. and his wife, Tina, of Land O’ Lakes, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Joshua Miller, Anthea Miller, Ashley Miller, Meghan Raymond, Matthew Raymond, Emily Raymond and Joey Raymond; two sisters, Maxine Morrow and her husband, Ken, and Beatrice Charette, all of Millinocket; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Raymond; and a son-in-law, John Miller. The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital and Colonial Acres Health Care, Lincoln, for the wonderful and loving care given to Philip during his final illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket. Interment with military honors will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
