FORT KENT – Paul J. Thibodeau, 86, died peacefully Oct. 2, 2010, at Togus Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta. Paul was born Sept. 11, 1924, in St. Francis, the son of Lezime and Edith (Bourgoin) Thibodeau. Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Lozier O’Grady Post No. 9609, Fort Kent; Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Connor-Jandreau Post, St. Francis. Paul enjoyed playing Texas Hold ’em with his friends, fishing and a good campfire. He is survived by his four sons, Clayton and his wife, Renee, of New Britian, Conn., Paul and his wife, Sandy, of Dixmont, Normand of Manchester, Conn., and Luke of St. John; three daughters, Verna Charette of St. John, Julie and her husband, Allen Gagnon, of Manchester, Conn., and Eve and her husband, Bernard Bouchard, of St. Francios, New Brunswick; one sister, Jeannette Jandreau of Fort Kent; 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Plourde) Thibodeau, in 1991; and 10 brothers and sisters, Lea, Delina, David, Daniel, Ephriem, Pea, Randolph, Levite, Peter and Edith. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full military honors will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal service will be afterward at St. John Catholic Cemetery, St. John. Those who wish may donate in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
