LINCOLN – Robert Allen McGaw, 75, husband of Eva (Kennedy) McGaw, passed away Oct. 3, 2010, at a Lincoln health care facility. He was born April 18, 1935, in Danforth, the son of Clayton and Margaret (Jeffers) McGaw. Bob owned and operated his own excavation business until his health forced his retirement. He served on the board of directors of the credit union and was instrumental in the building of its new building. He was also very involved in the building of Treat Falls House, Orono. He was a very active communicant of St. Mary’s Church and was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He regularly participated in the Tootsie Roll drive to benefit the handicapped and could often be seen selling tickets for charitable purposes. He was active in many community events. In addition to his wife, Eva, he is survived by three children, Karen and husband, Dean Bennett of Bradley, Marie McGaw and Kevin McGaw, both of Lincoln; a grandson, William and wife, Jess Bennett, of Gorham; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Neal of Bangor; in-laws, Phyllis Severance of Lincoln, Eunice and Joe Page of East Millinocket, Ethel and Wayne Clukey of Enfield, Larry Birmingham of Lincoln and Dean Neal of New Gloucester; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his extended family – the “coffee shop group.” In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Teresa McGaw; and in-laws, Linwood Severance, Roberta Birmingham and Robert Kennedy. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Myles Cyr presiding. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
