MARS HILL – Sarah M. Shorey, 67, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1942, in Mars Hill, daughter of the late Thurber and Josephine (Curtis) Durost. She grew up in Mars Hill and was a graduate of Aroostook Central Institute. Sarah worked as an office manager for Indian Head Plywood Corp. for 10 years, where she organized a mentoring program. She also held multiple other positions, including working at Gould & Smith and at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She owned and operated Sally’s Dairy Bar, Mars Hill, from 1980 to 1985. Sarah devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved to go dancing with her husband, Graydon, every Saturday evening at Camper’s Paradise, Westfield. She had many close friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Graydon Shorey of Mars Hill; three sons, Ty Case of Brentwood, N.H., Michael Shorey of Manchester, N.H., and Graydon “Jake” Shorey and his wife, Andrea, of South China; two daughters, Shelby Stiles and her husband, Jeb, of Blaine and Michele Guyer and her husband, Peter, of Belmont, N.H.; a brother, Roland “Barney” Durost of Bangor; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition, were two tea-cup poodles, Tasha and Sierra. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her mother, donations may be made in her memory to Susan G.
