NEW CANADA and WALLAGRASS – Elsie (Lavertu) Bossie, 79, died peacefully Oct. 4, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at a Fort Kent health care facility. Elsie was born June 29, 1931, in St. David, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Gorneault) Lavertu. She was a member of Ladies of St. Anne of Wallagrass. Elsie enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening, music and dancing. She had spent countless hours volunteering at Food Pantry and Good Shepherd, Wallagrass, helped organize and prepare food for funeral luncheons, she was a very giving person to her family and her community. Among many things, Mom will be remembered for her special Christmas whoopee pies, and her delicious ploys. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Orenie Bossie of New Canada; seven children, Jeannine Fontaine of Londonderry, N.H., Darold and his wife, Elaine, of Fort Kent, David and his wife, Beatrice, of Madawaska, Elaine Poulin of Milo, Joel of Fort Kent, Carroll and his wife, Debbie, of Fort Kent, and Connie and her husband, Kevin Ouellette, of St. John; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Armand and his wife, Sally, Joel and his wife, Denise, and Delmer and his wife, Micheline; one sister, Linda and her husband, Sam Frenette; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Irene; three brothers, Fernand, Donald and Freeman; one granddaughter, Jennifer; and one grandson, Lance. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wallagrass, with the Rev. James Albert officiating. Committal services will be after at the parish cemetery.
