MILLINOCKET – Robert O. Simpson, 80, died Oct. 5, 2010, in Millinocket. Bob was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Millinocket, the son of Sarah (Oliver) Chase and Robert C. Simpson. Bob lived a long and gratified life and pursued many vocations during his working career, all of which he enjoyed. During the years he was a bottling employee, public works worker, taxi driver, papermaker, insurance agent, musician and a clerk at the local paper company. Despite this varied background, music was always his main interest and in his early years he played with many groups throughout the state. He also was an avid golfer and pool player, and gained many friends and associates while participating in these sports. Bob was predeceased by a daughter, Susan, in 1969. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Mary (Kittrick) Simpson; a son, Robert L. Simpson and his wife, Cindy, of Columbia Falls and their three children, Kate, Amy and Brian; and a daughter, Mary Morrill and her husband, Ray, of Westbrook and their two children, Cara and Brendon. At Bob’s request, there will be no formal ceremonies. Those who wish to remember him in a special way may do so by donating to the charity of their choice.
