BANGOR – Judith A. Varnum, 63, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 19, 1947, in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Henry and Kathryn (Mitchell) Gaddis. Judith grew up in Calais. She was a graduate of Calais High School and St. Joseph’s Nursing School. Judith enjoyed her career and was employed by Eastside Rehabilitation, Brewer Rehabilitation, and many private clients. She loved to garden and will always be remembered as a friend to everyone. Judy touched the hearts of everyone she met and left a lasting impression everywhere she went. In addition to her mother, Judith is survived by her sons, Troy Varnum of Hermon and Kevin Varnum and his partner, Brenda Paul, of Old Town; grandchildren, Kayli-Faith Varnum and Emily Varnum; sister, JoAnne Spinney and her husband, Paul, of Calais; nephew, Todd Spinney of Orlando, Fla.; close, personal friend, Betty Bowers; and boyfriend, Donn Goodwin of Eddington. She was predeceased by her father; and her late husband, Alden Varnum. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. After the service the family invites friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
