FORT FAIRFIELD – Ricky A. Hickox, 50, passed away Sunday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2010, at a Presque Isle health care facility, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 7, 1960, at Seymour-Johnson Air Force Base, Goldsboro, N.C., the son of Terrell L. Sr. and Linda (Bubar) Hickox. Ricky attended schools at numerous Air Force bases and also was educated in the Fort Fairfield school system. He had been employed as a mechanic for several businesses and potato farmers and also worked for Grant and M.P.G. Dairies. Ricky was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling, kayaking, hunting and fishing. He had many enjoyable trips fishing at Baskahegan and Square lakes and the Aroostook River. Ricky served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a diesel mechanic and achieved the rank of airman third class. He is survived by two sons, Ryan Hickox of Portland and Billy Dumond of New Hampshire; his parents, Terrell L. Sr. and Linda Hickox of Fort Fairfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Terrell L. Jr. and Marilyn Hickox of Caribou; one niece, Dahna Hickox of Caribou; special friends, Rodney Deschaine of Fort Fairfield; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, with Ricky’s uncle, the Rev. Jim Duran officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place at a later date at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the funeral service at Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
