SILVER RIDGE – Frank J. Brawn, 90, passed from this life Oct. 11, 2010, in Millinocket, with his three children by his side. He was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Millville, New Brunswick, son of Harry and Sarah (Blaney) Brawn. He proudly served his country with the 45th Infantry Division of the Army Air Force, as it was called back then, serving during World War II. He was a life member of Sherman Area Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2299 and a 50-year member of Molunkus Lodge No. 165 AF & AM, Sherman. He retired from Great Northern Paper after 30 years. After retirement he and his wife, Betty, did some traveling and he also enjoyed working in his bountiful gardens and shared it with family and friends. He also kept busy cutting firewood and could size up a woodpile pretty quickly. He loved watching the Red Sox, especially when they were winning. He is survived by one son, James Brawn and his wife, Anna; two daughters, Janie Albert and her husband, Billy, and Holly Bates and her husband, Trapper, all of Benedicta; three grandchildren, Tracy Albert and Clint Guiggey, Ryan Albert and his wife, Lavender Marsh, and David Brawn and his wife, Kate; four great-grandchildren, who where the light of his life, Matthew and Michelle Birmingham, Matthew and Jackson Brawn; many nieces and nephews; and special caregivers and friends, Mary Willette and Fonda Anderson, who helped him at his little apartment that he loved at Mountain Heights. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Betty (Curtis); and five sisters, Erma Heath, Bess Bowden, Ruth Glidden, Mrytle Hartford and Stella Perkins. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Bowers Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Island Falls, with Molunkus Lodge No. 165 conducting services 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Leon Robinson officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Sherman Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 346, Augusta, ME 04332-0346.
