DIXMONT – Frank Joseph Fuller, 96, Dixmont’s oldest citizen, traveled his journey to the other side Sept. 23, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Dec. 9, 1913, on Maple Leaf Farm, Bradford, Pa., to pioneer farmers William S. and Aletha Mae Fuller. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran, who earned the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart for carrying his seriously wounded officer to the hospital, even though he was wounded. Frank is survived by his five daughters and one son, Joan MacDonald of Portland, Jeanette Toothaker and husband of Kennebunk, June Howard of Norway, Susan Sweetser and husband of Bryant Pond, Linda Ames and husband of Dixmont and Gary Fuller and wife of Tuttle, Okla; 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several cousins in Bradford, Pa., Virginia and New York. A military memorial for family and friends to honor Frank Fuller will be held 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at Dixmont Town Hall, where the veterans memorial monuments are located.
