SHERMAN STATION – Mary M. Dickinson, 94, died Oct. 15, 2010, with her family at her side, at Cummings Nursing Home, Howland. She was born March 17, 1916, in Sherman, the oldest daughter of Andrew and Annie (Dubay) Gantnier. She attended schools in Sherman and Benedicta. She led a full and productive life as a loving daughter, wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, stepgrandmother, friend and caregiver to many. She worked for many years at the Texaco station, where she not only served food, but gave loving advice to her young co-workers. She belonged to Senior Citizens and especially enjoyed the Secret Pal Program with the third graders at Christmastime, many of whom stayed in touch with her for a long time afterward. She was the queen of SKIP-BO, playing cards with her special friends several times a week. Mary was a devoted Catholic attending St. Benedict’s Church her whole life. She is survived by a son, James Ingalls and his wife, Mary, of Greene; a daughter, Paula Lyford and her husband, Bernard, of Vail, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Nina Roussel of Bedford, N.H.; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, whom she loved very much; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Leah Potvin, Modeste Deskus, Elsie Karen and Faye and her husband, Phil Mitchell; many nieces and nephews; and many friends, to many to mention, but you know who you are. She was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Durward Ingalls and Donald Dickinson; sisters, Rita Nelson and Phoebe McNally; brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Philip Gantnier; and a daughter-in-law, Earline Ingalls. Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday with Father Joel Cyr, celebrant.
