He is survived by his sons, Clinton and wife, Judy, of Bluffton, S.C., and Deane of Manchester, Conn.; grandchildren, Ronald and wife, Annie, of Topsham, who lovingly cared for him in his last years, Vincent of North Wilkesboro, N.C., Kathleen of Bluffton, S.C., Marc and wife, Nan Crusan, of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and Keith and wife, Brandi Crusan, of St. Simons, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Samuel and Eleanor of Topsham, Joshua and Maxwell Crusan of St. Simons, Ga., and Howard and Elizabeth Crusan of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; and one great-great-grandchild, Aubrey of North Wilkesboro, N.C. He will also be missed by his good friends, John Shirrefs and Bob Knopf. Ronald, or Pop as he was known to his family and friends, spent the early years of his life in the Bangor area. At a young age he went to work for the National Biscuit Co., Bangor, as a delivery person and accountant. He and Briita were married March 28, 1936. They lived in Lucerne for several years before moving to Hampton, Conn., in the early 1940s, where Pop had taken a job with Beacon Milling Co. as a retail store manager. They moved to Oran, N.Y., in 1943, where he managed retail stores there and in Manlius, N.Y. In 1952 they moved to Laurel, Del., where he became office manager of the Beacon feed mill. In 1956 they moved back to Hampton, Conn., where they lived until he left his sales position with Beacon in 1969. He spent his early retirement years in Connecticut, but moved to “The Hill Farm,” Lucerne, in 1980. He took great pleasure in caring for it until moving to Topsham with his grandson, Ron and family. His love of hunting and fishing was only exceeded by his love for his family, “the Farm” and everyone he entertained there. It can truly be said Pop led a full life that touched many who will have warm memories of this fine man. Private services for the family will be held at a later date. A service of Memorial Alternatives, Bangor.
