PROSPECT – Sheila A. Springer died Oct. 16, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Trenton. She was born Nov. 28, 1941, in Belfast, to Hayward and Hilda (Avery) Rainey. Mrs. Springer was a graduate of Houlton High School. Upon graduation she moved to Washington, D.C., where she was secretary to U.S. Sen. Margaret Chase Smith. Sheila moved to Hillside, N.J., in 1962, where she lived for 37 years with her husband Dale W. Springer, who predeceased her. She moved back to Prospect in 2000, where she lived until the last few months of her life. Sheila spent her life as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and was an honorary member of the Maine Air National Guard. Surviving is her daughter, Gail A. Keith and her husband, Douglas, of Trenton and their four children, Patrick Breslin, Jessica Keith, Hayward Breslin and Colby Keith; son, Steven J. Springer and his wife, Catherine, of Roselle Park, N.J., and their five children, Kristin, Kelly, Steven Jr., Katrina and Kathleen; son, Douglas W. Springer and his wife, Kristel, of Ellsworth and their three children, Elena, Kiera and Kaela; her twin sister, Sandra Porter and her husband, Lloyd, of Pittsfield; niece, Lisa Herzog and her husband, Frank Cameron, of Dover-Foxcroft; and nephew, Edward Porter and his wife, Karin, of Pittsfield. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Sandy Point Congregational Church, Route 1, Stockton Springs. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Route 1A, Prospect.
