PALERMO – Phyllis I. Rodrigue, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, with her loving family by her side at an Augusta hospital. She was born April 9, 1925. Phyllis worked as a nurse in Florida, where she lived with her husband for more than 25 years. Phyllis loved attending church and singing hymns; she also enjoyed many hours of crocheting. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Dufresne and her husband, Richard, of Clearwater, Fla., and Hazel Dyer and her husband, Colin, of Palermo; three sisters, Doris Shorey of Verona Island, Laura Snow and husband, Bim, of Penobscot, and Sylvia Gilbert of Brewer; one brother, David Gallagher of Verona Island; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Lorenzo Rodrigue; her mother, Mae Gallagher; sisters, Leona Wardwell and Evelyn Bouchard; and two sons, Richard Barton and Roger Barton. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Palermo Christian Church, Old Route 3, Palermo, with Pastor Edward Hatch officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Route 15, Bucksport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Phyllis’ memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 170 U.S. Route One, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
