CORINTH – Mary Etta Allen, 88, the wife of Fred Allen, died Oct. 18, 2010, at her residence, after an extended illness. She was born May 8, 1922, in Caribou, daughter of Lyman and Mary (Tidd) Haney. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft. Working as a woolen mill weaver for more than 20 years, she had since been a homemaker who was described as being the most wonderful wife, mother and grandmother this world had ever seen. Surviving, in addition to her husband of nearly 71 years are nine children, Ruth Trask and David of Hudson, Paul Allen and Dorothy of Augusta, Carol Bogdanovich of Granby, Mass., Fred Allen and Brenda of Newport, Barbara Storman and Ronald of Hudson, Herbert Allen of Corinth, Richard Allen and Cindy of Bangor, James Allen and Karen of Pittsfield, and Elaine Allen of Weare, N.H.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wesley Haney of Corinth. Mary was predeceased by a son, George Allen. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be at St. Benedict Cemetery, Benedicta.
