SOUTHWEST HARBOR -Hoyt K. Lord, 78, died Oct. 18, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born July 15, 1932, in Southwest Harbor, the son of Vesta (Lord) Goodwin. In 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served until his retirement as a master sergeant in 1976. For several years after retirement he worked as a custom service representative at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Oklahoma City. He spent the last 15 years in Temple Hills, Md., before coming to the Maine Veterans Home in September 2010. He is survived by his mother, Vesta of Ellsworth; daughters, Elsie Gilley and husband, Milton, of Oxon Hill, Md., and Cynthia Manson of Waterville; sons, Edwin Lord and wife, Elizabeth, of Levant, Kenneth Lord of Oxon Hill, Md., and Randall Lord and wife, Lori, of Danforth; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Richards and husband, Clyde, of Corinth; and brother, Malcolm Clough of Southwest Harbor. He was predeceased by a son, Larry Lord; daughter, Elaine Lord; and brother, Edwin Clough. A service of remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert.
