BUCKSPORT – Esther B. Gott, 90, died peacefully Oct. 18, 2010, at Penobscot Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Edward J. and Valma B. (Stratton) Gott. She graduated from Ellsworth High School and Maine School of Commerce, Bangor, now Husson University, in 1941. Esther taught school in Blue Hill, Brooks, Brownville and Corinna, where she also coached girls basketball. She retired 1974 from Champion Paper Co., Bucksport. Esther is survived by two brothers, Earl Gott of Brooks Park, Ohio, and James Gott of Bucksport; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gott and Joan Gott; special friends, Virginia Cunningham and Margaret Tainer; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Dale Keyes. She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Charles, Donald, Edward and Ora; and one sister, Evelyn Keyes. Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Hancock. Donations in her memory may be made to Penobscot Nursing Home activity fund, Penobscot, ME 04476.
