NEWPORT – Olive M. Nichols, 91, died Oct. 19, 2010, at a Hartland health care facility after a long illness. She was born March 29, 1919, in Caribou, the daughter of Edward and Olive (Belanger) Warner. Olive attended Caribou schools. She was employed at Irving Tanning, Hartland, for many years, and after working for several years at Dexter Shoe, Dexter, Olive retired in September 1981. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, doing crafts, dancing and blue grass music. She loved to travel, especially to Florida in the winter and visiting her son in Las Vegas, but always loved returning to Maine and her family. Olive is survived by her husband of 50 years, Everett Nichols of Newport; one son, Paul LeVasseur of Las Vegas; five daughters, Rose and her husband, Doug Robinson, of Hartland, Joan and her husband, John Connelly, of Hartland, Anita “Pootsie” LeVasseur and her friend, Philip, of St. Albans, Della LeVasseur and her friend, Doug, of Palmyra and Glennis and her husband, Linwood “Peanut” Vanadestine, of Newberry, Fla.; one brother, Dennis Warner of Groveland, Fla.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Maynard and Dennis; one daughter, Sally; eight brothers, four sisters and several grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Maloon Cemetery, St. Albans. At her request, there are no visitations. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport.
