BUCKSPORT – Phyllis B. Wardwell, 87, died Oct. 21, 2010, in Rhode Island. Phyllis lived with her son, George and his wife, Edna, in Middletown, R.I. since June 2010, but had previously lived in Bucksport for 60 years. She was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Wiscasset, the daughter of Leland and Mabel (Fowles) Bryant. She was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church, Wiscasset, and an associate member of Franklin Street Methodist Church, Bucksport. She was a past matron of Felicity Chapter No. 195 Order of the Eastern Star, Bucksport; a member of Vashti Rebekah Lodge, Orrington; and a life member of Sunshine Club for Children of Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. Phyllis served as secretary and treasurer of Bucksport Senior Citizens Club and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She retired from Central Maine Power Co., Bucksport. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Houston; and son, Stephen. She is survived by one son, George and his wife, Edna, of Middletown, R.I.; one daughter, Diane James and her husband, Arthur, of Northfield Mass.; one brother, Vaughn Bryant and his wife, Jo Ellen, of Standish; five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with an Order of the Eastern Star memorial service held 6:15 p.m. A funeral service will be held 9 a.m. Saturday at Franklin Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Graveside services will be afterward at Silver Lake Cemetery. Donations in Phyllis’s memory may be made to Franklin Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1727, Bucksport, ME 04416-1727.
