BANGOR – Denora “Dee” Gibson, 93, passed away peacefully Oct. 30, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born July 11, 1917, in Millinocket, the daughter of Bruno and Luccia (Facciuta) Sorrento. Dee was a graduate of Stearns High School, Millinocket, Class of 1935, and Worcester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1945. On Sept. 1, 1945, she married George W. Gibson Jr. They moved to Bangor and after the birth of their son and a period of homemaking, Dee returned to work in the 1960s when she became employed at St. Joseph Hospital as a recovery room nurse until her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, a brother and two sisters. Surviving are her son, Mark J. Gibson of Bangor; a granddaughter, Jessica Gibson; a grandson, Alex Gibson; a brother, Michael Vernovai of Oakville, Conn.; and a dear friend, Beverly McKillips of Winterport. Private interment will be in spring 2011 at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, Millinocket. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
