LINCOLN – Patricia H. (Whalen) Whitten, daughter of the late Dorothy and Cleve Whalen, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Colonial Healthcare Nursing Home of natural causes. Pat, also known to her friends as Teet, was born Dec. 9, 1928, and lived in Lincoln for many years. She graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1947. In 1949, she married the late Harvard Whitten whom she met in kindergarten. She sat in front of him for 13 years and he finally invited her to the senior prom. Teet and Harvard also lived in Portland for almost 20 years when he was employed by C.H. Robinson Paper Co. and she worked as a teacher’s assistant in several Portland elementary schools, including Reiche School. They returned to Lincoln for their retirement in the early 1990s. Teet loved the Red Sox and having her grandchildren visit for the summer, and she was very proud of her Irish heritage. She made the best tollhouse cookies anyone ever ate. She is survived by two daughters, Joanne and John Letendre of Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Mary Powers of Manchester, N.H.; two sisters, Mary Leah Whittier and Bette Reed, both of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Leah, Amanda, Danny, Emily, Andrew and Molly Powers of Manchester N.H.; her brother-in-law, Winston Whitten of Claremont, N.H.; and her nieces and nephews, Cleve Robinson, Gayle Whittier, Wes Whittier, Dottie Gabarro, Nancy Stevens, Jason Reed, Bill A. Whitten, Teddy Whitten and Tommy Whitten. Visiting hours will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
