BANGOR – Uldene G. “Dene” Winship, 92, wife of the late Richard H. Winship Sr., died Nov. 2, 2010, at a local health care facility. She was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Monticello, the daughter of Orrin and Henrietta (Hare) Goode. Dene graduated from Ricker Classical Institute, Houlton, in 1935, and attended cosmetology school in Bangor, graduating in 1936. She married Richard Winship Sr. in 1937, and they worked in Bangor the rest of their lives, enjoying family projects and activities together. The camp they built on Philips Lake was a family project and provided many years of enjoyment for the family and friends. After retirement the couple spent several winters in Florida. In later years they resided at Birch Hill Estates, Sunbury Village, and most recently at the Phillip-Strickland House, Bangor. She is survived by two sons, Walter and Kenneth Winship; her daughter-in-law, Jane Winship of Bangor; her half sister, Joanne Lowry Hannon of Pinellas Park, Fla.; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Richard Winship Jr.; and her sister, Joyce DeLong. Graveside services will be held 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson, officiating.
