WINTERPORT – Carolyn Edna Demmons, 70, passed away Nov. 8, 2010. She was born April 9, 1940, in Bangor, daughter of Mertle Pearl Jenkins. Carolyn, known as “Callie” lived in Mattawamkeag as a child. She attended schools in Mattawamkeag and at Abraham Lincoln School, Bangor. She enjoyed roller-skating in her youth, and loved to go dancing with friends and family. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and especially snowmobiling when they would stop and roast Kenny’s and Freddie’s, and laugh. Carolyn was a former member of Eagles Club, Brewer, many years ago. Carolyn married Walter F. Demmons Sr., March 8, 1958, and had five children. She worked at Viner’s Shoe for many years as a stitcher. Callie and Walter managed a family garden for several years and sold vegetables. They shared the vegetables free with family and those in need. She is remembered as a feisty, hard working woman, who devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Callie tried to enjoy the social activities she loved, but her illness eventually stopped her. She was in constant contact with her family and in the final days of her life they were all by her side. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter Fred Demmons Sr.; children, Maria Ann Demmons Moore and life partner, Daniel Burgess, Wanda Sue Demmons White and husband, Mark, Walter “Butch” Fred Demmons Jr. and wife, Kelly, Melissa Lynn Demmons Snader and husband, Jeff, and Tracy Lee Demmons and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Arron M.
