GUILFORD – Roy E. Fairbrother, 85, died Nov. 12, 2010, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born July 8, 1925, in Guilford, the son of Maurice and Thirza (Colby) Fairbrother. He served in the U.S. Navy in the North Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. Roy worked as a machinist for the tannery in Dover-Foxcroft and later in his own shop in Guilford. He designed and built the machines that have been used by Northeast Log Homes, Kenduskeag, for cutting and shaping logs. He and his wife, Barbara, were avid square dancers and were members of Lords and Ladies Square Dance Club, and National Square Dance Campers Association. He was a 50-year member of Mount Kineo Masonic Lodge No. 109, Guilford, and a 65-year member of Valley Grange No. 144. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Leighton) Fairbrother, in 2001. He is survived by a son, David Fairbrother of Guilford; three daughters and their husbands, Judy and Charles Dunehew of Illinois, Kathy and Larry Stoddard of Scarborough and Sandy and Rod Ayers of Rhode Island; five grandchildren, Bruce Dunehew and his wife, Jacqueline, of North Carolina, Joshua Ayers of Westbrook, Allyson Ayers of Rhode Island and Kimberley Stoddard and Stephanie Stoddard, both of Scarborough; and three great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Bram and Jadzia. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, with Masonic services 7 p.m. at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating.
