CHARLOTTE – Ralph Albert Gower, 59, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, with his children by his side at a Bangor hospital. Ralph was born Nov. 9, 1951, in Calais, son of the late Lewis and Jean (Reynolds) Gower. After attending local schools, he became a mechanic for Chet’s Transport, Charlotte. Ralph was a member of Operating Engineers Local 4 and worked at Seabrook Station in New Hampshire. As many of his friends and family would agree, he enjoyed disagreeing just for sake of an argument. In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Reynolds. Surviving are his two children, Jamey Gower and his wife, Jessica, of Charlotte and Kristen Gower and her companion, Lucas Reardon, of Charlotte; two sisters, Ruth Spencer and her husband, Ronald, of Howland and Barbara McLay and her husband, Norman, of Moores Mills, New Brunswick; four grandchildren, Kade, Zachary, Jacob and Jesse Gower; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Brownie. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a celebration of Ralph’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday with Ernest James officiating.
