HOWLAND – Lloyd G. “Rip” Sage, 89, husband of Ruth (Davis) Sage, passed away Nov. 12, 2010, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Howland, the son of Albert and Ethel (Lancaster) Sage. Rip attended Howland schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He worked at Great Northern Paper Co. for more than 40 years as a millwright. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 97, Composite Lodge No. 168 AF & AM, Lagrange, and Anah Temple Shrine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, gardening and his camp on South Branch Pond. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Ruth, he is survived by his son, Rodney and his wife, Joan, of Howland; daughter, Barbara Twombly and her husband, Matthew, of West Enfield and Florida; four grandchildren, Aaron Twombly and wife, Kelly, Daniel Twombly and wife, Lisa, Mandy Spear and husband, Tim, and Lana Cummings and husband, Bruce; five great-grandchildren, Ryker and Lydia Spear, Lila Cummings, and Matthew and Liam Twombly; a brother, Gerald Sage; and four sisters, Thelma Leavitt, Glenna Leavitt, Althea Sage, and Mona Swett and her husband, Donald. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers and a sister, Kermit, Elwin and Reginald Sage, and Edith Currie. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where a Masonic memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
