BANGOR – Helen S. “Toby” Corbett, 68, died Nov. 14, 2010, surrounded by family and friends at a local hospital, after a short battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 9, 1942, in Bangor, the daughter of Paul and Edna (Hall) O’Donnell. Toby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed taking care of others, which was her lifelong passion. Forever keeping everyone in line and building spirits, her strong will and captive personality will be carried by those who knew her forever. Also missed will be her stubborn courage and magnetic charisma that kept us all laughing and hoping to end up as tough, as caring, and as cared for as her. She was a 1962 graduate of Hampden Academy and then worked for many years in local department stores, including Freeses, Kings, Mars and Wholesale Depot. Toby most recently worked at and retired from Eastern Maine Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Alfred Corbett of Bangor; two daughters, Karen Trafton and Wayne LeBreton of Hermon and Carol and her husband, Jim Clark, of Bangor; her sister, Pat O’Donnell and Ed Pare of Hancock; five grandchildren, Sean Corbett, Hayley Trafton, Rachel Clark, Danielle Clark and Dylan Clark; sister-in-law, Pat Goodridge of Florida; many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Gloria Curtis for her love and dedication to Toby. She will also be missed by her cat, Molly; and granddogs, Max, Comet and Bruschi. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be afterward at Mount Pleasant Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Chapel Hill, 1460 Outer Hammond St., Bangor, immediately after the interment. Those who wish may make donations in Toby’s name to Maine Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 553, Portland, ME 04112. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
