OLD TOWN – Philip R. Dow, 73, died peacefully with his family by his side Nov. 16, 2010. He was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Old Town, son of James T. and Marrian (Robertson) Dow. Phil graduated from Old Town High School. After high school, Phil proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, 1955-1958. After his service, he started working for National Cash Register and was the first technician in the area capable of servicing the original computers used in the banking industry. Phil was a past member of Star in the East No. 60, Old Town, past member of Anah Shriners and Old Town Rotary, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp at West Lake. Phil is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; daughter, Cindy Moosey and her husband, Paul, of Sturbridge, Mass.; two brothers, Fred of Beech Hill, and Bob and his wife, Annie, of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Nancy Colson and her husband, Earl, of Broadalbin, N.Y.; his in-laws, Bob and Dot Austin; two brothers-in-law, Zeke Austin and his wife, Cindy, and Bruce Austin; two sisters-in-law, Leah Austin, and Sue Cox and her husband, Gary; many nieces and nephews. Phil was predeceased by his parents. The family expresses their sincere thank you to Phil’s caregiver, Cookie Dewitt; and to the staff at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, for all the care and compassion they gave to Phil and his family. A celebration of Phil’s life will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Elks Lodge, 37 Fourth St., Old Town.
