WESTBROOK – Theodore L. Secord, 87, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Mercy Hospital, Portland, after a sudden illness. He was born in Lewiston, the son of Joseph and Mildred Secord. Ted was raised in Windham and a graduate of Windham High School, before moving to Westbrook. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War and Cuban Missle Crisis, where he served on the Naval Destroyer, USS Tills. Ted served in the Navy and Naval Reserve for more than 20 years. Ted worked at S.D. Warren Paper Co. for 43 years as a welder and retired in 1986. He was a member of the 40-Year Club at S.D. Warren, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Ted and his wife, Sylvia, were married May 28, 1949. Together they enjoyed many camping and senior citizen trips. Ted also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on Frye Island, Bangor, trips to the Carolina’s and Florida. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Sylvia (Breault) Secord, in 2000; and two grandsons, Jaron “JJ,” in 2006, and Rene Secord, who passed away Nov. 16, 2010. Ted is survived by his son, Paul and his wife, April, of Bangor; and two daughters, Sharon Ross and husband, Dan, of Windham and Joanne Blackmore and her husband, Jerry, of Fort Mill, S.C. Pa-Pa leaves his five grandchildren, Jennifer Chasse, Angela Tariyal, Shelby Blackmore, Tyler and Devin Secord. In addition Pa-Pa was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Emma, Jayin, Maya and Nicholas. He is also survived by an aunt, Jeanette Sicard of Scarborough; and many other extended family members. Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church, Portland. Interment will be afterward at St. Hyacinth Cemetery.
