BANGOR – Charlene Sickles Milliken, 71, passed away Nov. 28, 2010, in Hainesville, Fla. She was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles E. Sickles and Mary (McCarron) Sickles. Charlene graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1957. She was married to James F. Milliken of Bangor for 51 years. She worked for Crisis and Counseling Centers of Augusta and was the founder of GEAR Parent Network. Through the JJD Program, Charlene and James housed more than 100 children within a 15-year span. She was predeceased by her parents. Charlene is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Milliken and his wife, Nancy, of Bangor, Michael and his wife, Gwenn Milliken, of Jacksonville, Fla., James F. Milliken Jr. of Passadumkeag and Karen M. Glavin and her husband, Peter, of Bangor; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Getchell; and two brothers, Charles and Timothy Sickles, all of Brewer. Services will be announced at a later date at the convenience of the family.
