PENOBSCOT – Ruth O. Clement, 91, died peacefully Dec. 3, 2010, with her daughter at her side at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Lexington, Mass., daughter of James and Helen (McFarland) Corbin. Ruth was a member of Penobscot United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Riverside Chapter No. 123, Castine Grange No. 250 and Pomona Grange. She was very active with the 4-H club in Penobscot and with them at Blue Hill Fair. She made many doughnuts for the fire department and 4-H club. Ruth is survived by her husband of 42 years, Linwood A. Clement of Penobscot; two daughters, Chloe Conklin of Freehold, N.J., and Donna Jones and her husband, Malcolm, of Bucksport and Dade City, Fla.; four sisters-in-law, Mary Clement of Penobscot, Pauline Clement of Orland, Marilyn Calder of Penobscot and Carolyn Smith of Livington; a brother-in-law, Robert Clement of Hancock; 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald O’Neill; sister, Mary Barnes; son, Charles O’Neill; and grandson, Cory Conklin. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, with an Order of Eastern Star service 4 p.m. at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Penobscot United Methodist Church with Pastor Susan Yaruta-Young officiating. Interment will be at Castine Cemetery, Castine. Donations in her memory may be made to Castine Grange No. 250 or Order of Eastern Star, Riverside Chapter.
